There are numerous causes of tearing. Tearing can result from increased tear production, trouble with correct flow of tears across the eye, or blockage of the tear ducts. The successful management of tearing requires the correct identification of the cause. As oculoplastic surgeons, Drs. Garibaldi and Wong are specially trained to perform a complete evaluation to determine the cause of, and proper treatment for, tearing.
At OCLI, Drs. Garibaldi and Wong have access to cutting edge diagnostic and treatment tools for all causes of tearing including Dry Eye Syndrome, Blepharitis, eyelid malposition and blockage of the tear ducts. Treatment may include eye drops, eyelid hygiene, or surgical management of blockage of the tear ducts. Surgery may involve office procedures under local anesthesia or management in a surgical center or hospital with the assistance of an anesthesiologist.
